About

We started with a vision - a luxury, handmade shelter that complemented our natural surroundings and was kind to the environment. Accommodation like no other - for Highland Explorers like you.

Rest is designed, built and ran by us. Thoughtfully designed, with outdoor adventurers in mind. We spent two years designing and building, always with a high attention to detail. A calm, comfortable space at the end of your wild day in the rugged Highlands.

We built Rest to have minimal impact both on its natural surroundings and our neighbours. At the edge of our garden, on the edge of the village, Rest borders residential and wilderness. We live on site, so we’re here for anything you might need during your stay.

Sustainability matters to us. From ground screw foundations to minimise ground disturbance, to cladding and furniture made from sustainably managed larch less than 20 miles away, we have tried to minimise our environmental impact as much as possible throughout construction. Rest is highly insulated using Passiv Haus design concepts, and is powered in part by on-site solar, in conjunction with renewable energy from the grid. We use biodegradable cleaning products and avoid single-use disposable products. We know there is always more we can do and are committed to finding new ways to reduce our environmental impact.

We’re proud to be a Camp Zero Club site, working to promote sustainable adventure.
